Definition:
A piece of dry dirt or mud that may be thrown (at someone) and upon impact disintergrates or explodes into particles or dust. Tougher kids often included rocks as yonnies. This was considered against the "yonnie code", a childs version of the Geneva Convention.
Usage:
Hey, there are some great yonnies over here, let's throw them at those boys. Let's have a yonnie war with those kids from the other school.
Explanation:
This is an obscure term from my childhood in the 1960s. A "Yonnie war" (throwing rocks and dirt clods at each other) was a favourite after-school pasttime. The aim of the exercise was often to injure the other participants, although if was not total anarchy as some care was usually taken to avoid the face. Sandstone makes great yonnies as it reliably explodes on impact, often leaving a small lump behind on a wall or similar surface. Sometimes hard stones were used when yonnies were in short supply or the ground was too wet.
Trivia:
Yoni is the female counterpart to phallus.
