Definition:
A Paczki is a pastry similar to a large filled doughnut, traditionally prepared for Shrove Tuesday, which is also refered to as Paczki Day as a result. Often contains prunes, appple sauce, or custard.
Usage:
"I'll have a Half-dozen Paczkis, please."
Explanation:
This is the kind of word which catches on in English usage because the food item it refers to is popular, and consumption of Paczkis is now spread at least as far as Boston, MA and most of Southern Ontario. Tim Horton's doughnut shops can take part of the blame for popularising the food. The Paczki is the traditional Polish way to use up fats before the beginning of Lent in the Christian calendar.
Trivia:
Eating one Paczki is probably your entire calorie quota for the day, so it's just as well that they're only available a few days a year.
