How is it used?:
Posh is a term describing luxurious surroundings, normally in reference to a home or room.
What does it mean?:
Stylish, upscale, exclusive, associated with the upper classes.
How did it come to be used this way?:
Wrongly associated with the phrase Port Out Starboard Home (popularized in a song for the film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang). While the etymology is uncertain the most probable is the Romany "posh" that stands for "half" as in "half a crown" which a sizeable sum of money at the time.
