1. A thick, oily, light–yellow substance composed chiefly of fatty globules that rise and gather on the surface of milk and combine into butter when churned.
2. Any substance formed in a similar manner.
3. A delicacy for the table resembling cream, or made in part from it; also, a candy containing a creamlike substance.
4. The part of something regarded as the choicest or most highly to be appreciated: the cream of fashion.
