1. The act of administering, or the state of being administered; management of public affairs.
2. The government as existing, or the persons collectively who compose it, especially its executive department; also, the official tenure of such government.
3. Law The legal management and settlement of the estate of a deceased person, as by an executor, or of a minor, lunatic, or one otherwise incompetent, as by a trustee or administrator.
