1. A tall, coarse, evil–smelling, very poisonous annual weed of the nightshade family (Datura stramonium): it yields several important alkaloids, as atropine and scopolamine.
2. Apple of Peru. Also jimp·son weed (jimp′sən). [Alter. of Jamestown weed, so called because first observed in Jamestown, Va.]
