(kā) noun plural k's, K's or ks, Ks or kays (kāz)
1. The eleventh letter of the English alphabet: from Phoenician kaph, Greek kappa, Roman K.
2. The sound of the letter k, a voiceless plosive which varies from velar to alveolar position according to the place of articulation of the accompanying vowel, as in coop and keep. It is normally not pronounced when initial before n, as in knee, knight, know, etc. See ALPHABET.
