Definition of: pi-meson

(pī′mes′on, -mē′son) noun Physics
A short–lived, highly unstable, radioactive particle produced by the impact of fast–moving protons on atomic nuclei. It has a mass about 275 times that of the electron, may be either positive or negative in charge, and decays spontaneously into mu–mesons and neutrinos.
