(sit′in′) noun
1. An organized demonstration in which a protesting group occupies an area prohibited to them, as by taking seats in a restricted restaurant, etc.
2. A form of civil disobedience in which demonstrators obstruct some activity by sitting down and refusing to move: also called sit–down.
