Definition of: wassail

(wos′əl, was′-, wo·sāl′) noun
1. An ancient salutation or toast; an expression of good will in festivities, especially when pledging someone's health. See DRINK–HAIL.
2. The liquor prepared for a wassail; especially, a mixture of ale and wine with sugar, roasted apples, spices, etc.
3. A festivity at which healths are drunk; a carousal.
4. Brit. A convivial song.
