1. The writings of the Old and New Testaments, as accepted by the Christian Church as a divine revelation: in certain churches embracing also parts of the Apocrypha.
2. A copy of this.
3. The Old Testament Scriptures in the form accepted by the Jews.
4. Any book, record, or history considered authoritative: in this sense usually not capitalized.
