1. An embankment to protect low land from inundation.
2. A bank formed by the excavation of a ditch; a causeway.
3. A low wall of stone or turf for dividing or enclosing land.
4. Mining A fissure which has been filled with solid material other than the ore through which it cuts.
5. Geol. A mass of igneous rock filling a fissure in other rocks, into which it has been intruded.
