That part of the alimentary canal between the pylorus and the anus; bowel. In man the small intestine, divided into duodenum, jejunum, and ileum, is the upper part, and is much convoluted; the large intestine is of greater caliber, and is divided into cecum, colon, and rectum. ♦ Collateral adjective: alvine.
