1. A state of southern Brazil; 77,717 square miles; capital, Curitiba.
2. An important river of SW Brazil and NE Argentina, forming the eastern and southern boundaries of Paraguay and flowing 2,050 miles south to the Rio de la Plata: above the confluence of the Paraguay, called the Al·to Paraná (äl′tō).
3. A city in eastern Argentina on the Paraná.
