1. A colorless, gaseous, highly toxic hydride of phosphorus, PH3, with an odor resembling that of putrid fish.
2. One of a class of compounds derived from phosphine by replacing the hydrogen with alkyl radicals.
3. An acridine dye. Also phos′phin (-fin).
