Any of several tropical American trees producing a medicinal bark, especially the white quebracho (Aspidosperma quebracho–bianco), a Chilean tree whose bark is used as a febrifuge and for diseases of the respiratory organs; also, red quebracho (Schinopsis lorentzii), a tree whose heartwood is rich in tannin.
