2. The classification of a vessel.
3. An evaluation of the financial standing of a business firm or an individual.
4. The designation of the operating capacity of a piece of machinery, as expressed in horsepower, kilowatts, etc.
5. Any specialist grade held by an enlisted man or officer: the rating of a pilot, gunner, parachutist, etc., in the U.S. Army, or of boatswain's mate in the Navy.
