1. One who or that which is engaged in scouting; specifically, a person sent out to observe and get information, as of the position or strength of an enemy in war.
2. The act of scouting.
3. At Oxford University, an undergraduate's manservant.
4. In cricket, a fielder: applied chiefly to one who fields at a distance in practice.
