1. An evergreen Asian shrub or small tree (Thea sinensis), having a compact head of leathery, toothed leaves and white or pink flowers.
2. The prepared leaves of this plant, or an infusion of them used as a beverage. The difference between black tea and green tea is the result of manipulation, the latter being withered by steaming, thus retaining the green color, while leaves simply dried turn black.
3. Any infusion, decoction, solution, or extract to be used as a beverage or medicinally: beef tea.
4. The leaves of a particular variety of plant, prepared for making a beverage, or for medicinal purposes: senna tea.
