1. To annoy or harass with continual importunities, raillery, etc.; pester.
2. To scratch or dress in order to raise the nap, as cloth with teasels.
3. To tear or pull apart with instruments, as tissues in examination.
4. To comb or card, as wool or flax; also, to pick or shred, as hard-packed tobacco.
5. To comb (hair) in such a way as to form fluffy layers and give an effect of fullness.
