A musical instrument whose sounds are produced by vibrations of air injected by the lungs or by mechanical bellows. Those blown by air from the lungs are known as wood–wind instruments or woodwinds, consisting of the flutes, oboes, clarinets, etc., and the brass–wind instruments or brasses, consisting of the horns, trumpets, trombones, tubas, etc. Those in which the vibration of the air column is induced by bellows are the various types of organ, accordion, etc.
