1. A formal or explicit statement; the act of declaring, or that which is declared.
2. In common-law pleading, the paper filed by the plaintiff in which he alleges the facts constituting his cause of action and demands judgment; also, a solemn declaration made by a witness under the penalties of perjury, equivalent to an oath.
3. In bridge, the naming of the trump suit and the tricks, above six, to be taken: also called make.
