Definition of: evidence

1. That which makes evident or clear, whether taken singly or collectively.
2. Any ground or reason for knowledge or certitude in knowledge.
3. Proof, whether immediate or derived by inference.
4. A fact or body of facts on which a proof, belief, or judgment is based.
5. Law That by means of which a fact is established: distinguished from proof, which is the result of evidence, and testimony, which is evidence given orally.
