Genetics
Principles formulated by Gregor Mendel as a result of experiments in breeding garden peas. They state that certain contrasting characters of cross-bred parents, as color height, etc., are inherited by the hybrid offspring through determining factors which act as units, and that subsequent cross-bred generations manifest these characters in varying combinations from dominant to recessive, each combination being present in a definite proportion of the total number of offspring.
