1. A headdress worn by various church dignitaries, as popes, archbishops, bishops, and abbots: a tall ornamental cap terminating in two peaks; hence, the office or dignity of a bishop, etc.
2. The official headdress of the ancient Jewish high priest.
3. A headdress resembling a bishop's miter, worn in the 15th century by women.
4. The junction of two bodies at an equally divided angle, as at the corner of a picture frame: also miter joint.
