1. A celestial body revolving around the earth from west to east in a lunar month of 29.53 days or a sidereal month of 27.33 days; mean diameter, 2,160 miles; mean distance from the earth, 238,900 miles. In mass, the earth is 81.5 times greater than the moon; in volume, 49 times greater.
