In Greek mythology, a son of Laomedon who was loved by Eos. She persuaded Zeus to grant him immortality but neglected to request for him eternal youth, so that Tithonus shriveled as he grew older and older, and was finally changed into a grasshopper. [<L <Gk. Tithōnos]
