Any of various fine, hard earthenwares invented by Josiah Wedgwood, characterized by an unglazed, tinted clay background bearing small, finely detailed, classical figures in cameo relief applied in white paste. It is typically tinted either light or dark blue, but Wedgwood bamboo ware (yellow), Wedgwood basalt (black), and Wedgwood queen's (cream–colored) are also famous. Also Wedgwood ware.
